A Guide to RoadmapExchange: Your Feedback, Next Steps

Estimated read time 5 min read

First of all, thank you for being part of the Salesforce ecosystem and for your contributions that help ‌shape the future of our products. Whether you’re a seasoned contributor to IdeaExchange or new to the process of influencing product development, RoadmapExchange is a platform you won’t want to miss. It was launched as a beta in the fall of 2024 and has quickly gained traction in the Trailblazer Community as an exciting new way to engage with Salesforce product makers. This guide will help you understand how to best contribute to RoadmapExchange and make a meaningful impact.

What’s RoadmapExchange?

RoadmapExchange is where you can provide feedback on items that our product teams are actively planning or considering for their roadmap. Unlike IdeaExchange, where you can submit new ideas, RoadmapExchange is all about refining and enhancing ‌features that are already in the planning stages. RoadmapExchange is your direct line into our product development cycle, connecting you with the product makers working to build products and features that bring additional value to your business.

How to get started

  1. Shape the Roadmap: Head over to RoadmapExchange to start contributing. Your insights are invaluable and can help shape the final product.
  2. Log in to IdeaExchange: Use your Trailblazer credentials to access the platform. This ensures that your feedback is linked to your account and can be tracked by our product teams.
  3. Identify Opportunities: Check out the roadmaps most important to you and your work.  Pay special attention to features in the Seeking Feedback and Planned columns for the opportunity to contribute your business needs before we begin building.  It’s not too late to share your use cases while the feature is In Progress. And our product teams are always listening – so share your feedback on our newest features in Recently Released too.
  4. Unleash Your Insight: The more detail you can share about a challenge or what you’re trying to accomplish, the better. Be specific about your thoughts, experiences, or specific uses cases you may have.

Your input, put to work

When you contribute to RoadmapExchange, you’re helping our product makers better understand your needs, and actively refine and enhance existing plans. Here’s how your feedback makes a difference and what to expect after engaging on a roadmap:

  • Product Management Engagement: Salesforce product managers monitor RoadmapExchange to gauge community support and understand the nuances of the features they’re planning. They may reach out to you as a follow up on your feedback. This closed loop helps refine features or prioritize implementation details, ensuring that the final product meets the needs of our users.
  • Context is Key: Just as with IdeaExchange, other users can like and comment on the roadmap items. This community input provides essential context that helps product teams make informed decisions. Detailed comments and insights on your use cases can influence the direction of the feature.

Make your contribution count

To ensure your feedback has the greatest impact, consider the following factors that product makers use when deciding what to build:

  • Focus on Business Value: Explain clearly how the roadmap item will be a “game-changer” for you and your business. Highlight specific use cases and scenarios where the feature will make a significant difference.
  • Highlight Customer Demand: Even if an item is already on the roadmap, your feedback reinforces the level of customer demand. Share specific examples of how the feature will benefit your organization and others in the community. More comments and context on specific aspects of the item can help us focus our efforts.
  • Business Feasibility and Complexity: Your feedback can help product teams identify potential hidden complications or challenges. Be transparent about any concerns or suggestions you may have on roadmap items.

Deepening your engagement

RoadmapExchange is a powerful tool, but we also offer a portfolio of ways to get involved and ensure your voice is heard:
