Tell us more about Navin.
“My name is Navin Govindsamy, I am a South African businessman. I have been in the business world from the age of 13, helping out in the family business. I started my own business at the age of 20 where the only resource that I had was my mums Kirby vacuum cleaner and my car. I decided to open a carpet cleaning business, I was the only staff doing the manual labour by myself. I used to make about R2000 a week back in 1992. Once I built my capital, I started buying and selling cars. The trick was to always invest and grow. I currently own multiple businesses.”
What kind of impact do you want to make in Africa as a businessman?
“I would love to help to educate people of the African continent about clean energy, water and sanitation. I believe the biggest challenge in Africa is the lack of knowledge about alternate solutions for a sustainable future.”
Navin Tells us more:
“I currently make my own technology where we make water from the air. We can make 100 liters a day to millions of liters a day. I also make toilets that convert the waste into water that is reused in the toilets so the toilets will always have water to function. We convert the solid part of the waste into dry fertilizer which can be used for agriculture.”
What does success mean to you?
“Success to me means, every household in Africa having access to clean water and flushing toilets.”
What advice would you give to someone who looks up to you?
“You have to start somewhere, use whatever resources you have and start today. Hard work is the secret to success. Never give up, storms make you stronger.”
