BEE Chamber | Sustainability Summit – Wrap up.

In collaboration with Smart procurement, the BEE Chamber hosted a sustainability summit on the 8th of June at Deloitte Midrand. The BEE Chamber is working incredibly hard to support economic development and societal change in South Africa.

Africa Talks Business had the honor of covering this sustainability summit in person.

The BEE Chamber offered a fantastic setting for networking between sizable councils, associations, and private organizations. The Minister of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities was the special guest of the day : Dr Nkosazana Dllamini Zuma

We learn more about the impact the BEE Chamber is aiming to have—one that is transformational and not just transactional—in a compelling segment by Yuneal Padaychee. Considering that businesses should not solely concentrate on points or view BEE measures as a tick list, but rather ways in which they can change their mindsets to provide a more sustainable approach to important spending and task related missions.

Arlene Wilson- Max Stakeholder Relations  Executive at The BEE Chamber  Hosted the event for the day and introduced us to a lovely performance by Mr. Tap, who performed one of his original songs with his colleague.

Mr. Tap, who is visually impaired, tells a moving story about how he came to run the Skills Village Radio Station and the difficulties that people with disabilities may encounter when looking for work. Advertise your business on his platform and can get in touch with Mr. Tap here( skillsvillageradio@sscta.org

We were able to gain more knowledge from the speakers who filled half the day to the brim. Various organizations that are open to sharing more information about what they do and what they hope to get out of the event.

First to speak : The South African Medical Association, which gave us some wonderful details about their collaboration with the Y.E.S for Youth Initiative and their success in placing 2000 young people in member organizations.

We were excited to hear the next speaker from The Why Corp, who provided us with an overview of 3D printing and discussed how young women in technology, specifically those who specialize in 3D printing, could completely change the game and create a sustainable income for themselves through this technology.

It has been 100 years for women lawyers, according to the president of the SA Women Lawyers Association.

The Industry Association of Wine Producers discovered that the local market was somewhat slow to embrace wine while the international  market was a significant player in our local Black Owned Wine Companies.

We had a minister of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities as the keynote speaker. Dr Nkosazana Dllamini Zuma. Who motivated us with a magnificent and lovely speech; she touched on the painful history of South Africa, which is a real eye-opener and a foundation for why BEE has been implemented. We learn about her love for young people and how The Department wants to collaborate with more businesses to improve our communities.

The speech covered a wide range of topics and explained why it is crucial that we start investing in young people because they make up the majority of the population in South Africa.

Last but not least, Smart Procurement, who collaborated with Deloitte to host this wonderful Event, wrapped up the event.
